Extra-large 19th Century French Oil Lamp Baccarat
Extra-large 19th Century French Oil Lamp Baccarat
Definition.
Very rare large kerosene lamp, made in the early 19th century in France by Baccarat.
This beautiful lamp is made of a combination of metal, copper, marble and crystal.
The finish of the lamp is kept very sleek.
This glass ball is made of blown crystal, after which surfaces are cut round.
We call this technique "Ecailles", which are inspired by the honeycomb.
Finally, the lamp is finished at the top with a crystal glass that gives the fire more light.
A very nice object as decoration or to use as mood lighting.
Unique to this lamp is that it can hold 2 wicks, there is also a mechanism that raises the head of the lamp to better access the wick.
To use the lamp, new wicks must be inserted.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for antique glassware over 100 years old.
