Set of 3 ceramic art nouveau vases “Nimy – Orfévrerie – églantine”
Definition.
Set of 2 Art Nouveau ceramic vases with 1 centerpiece, made at the end of the 19th century in Belgium.
The vases are made of cast ceramic in a mold, after which they were painted by hand and finished with a glaze.
Unique to these vases is that they have a beautiful silver layer at the bottom.
This one has a very nice shine.
These vases are also called Barbotine or Majolica vases.
At the bottom you will find the manufacturer's mark as well as the name of the vases: “Nimy Belgique – Orfévrerie Décor églantine”
These are in exceptionally good condition, considering their age. Traces of use are present in the jardiniere, as it was mainly used to place flowers.
The glaze shows the small cracks, as is known in antique pottery.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique ceramic.
