German art pottery, dating from around 1900. It is made of fairly heavy earthenware with the characteristic grey and bleu glaze decoration.

This brine pot was mainly used to salt vegetables and meat and to preserve them for the winter.

The pot is made in Cologne.

Now this pot is mainly used as a decoration or flower pot.

Given its age, a small trace of use may be present.
