4 Uranium Val Saint Lambert wine/port glasses 1880
4 Uranium Val Saint Lambert wine/port glasses 1880
Definition.
4 rare, beautiful glasses, made at the end of the 19th century in Belgium.
The glasses are made of mouth-blown glass, with a crystal content to obtain a more beautiful shine.
The chalice of the glass has a beautiful relief shape, which is applied during blowing.
To obtain a beautiful green color, a particle of uranium was added.
By applying this uranium to the glass, the glasses give a very nice fluorescent color when you shine UV light on them.
In the 19th century this was a wine glass, now we use it more as a port glass.
These are completely handmade, so they can differ in size and weight.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
