5 French water / beer glasses anno 1770

Definition.

5 rare water / beer glasses made in the second part of the 18th century in France.

The glasses are made of mouth-blown glass with lead, this is the old crystal.

The glasses are beautifully decorated with acid-etched images of ducks.

The generous-sized rond-shaped bowls standing on baluster stems with wide plinths.

This glasses show there wonderfully rustic, hand-made Character, with there slightly uneven shapes and heights, and with trapped air bubbles in the clear glass.

The underside of the plinths show the pincer marks of the glassblower.

Please note:

These are completely handmade, so they can differ in size and weight. The shape is also not always perfectly the same.

The crystal at the 18th century was not yet as pure as what we know today.

In the 18th and 19th century these were all water / beer glasses, now we use it more as wine glass.

Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
