19th Century French opaline Oil Lamp Portieux
Definition.
Very nice kerosene lamp, made in the 19th century in France by Portieux.
This beautiful lamp is made of a combination of metal, copper and crystal.
The base of the lamp is made of green and opaline glass.
This with a crystal content to obtain a more beautiful shine.
It is rare that you will find this oil lamp with a combination of the white opaline glass and clear green glass.
Portieux was very well known in France for the manufacture of opaline crystal work.
At the bottom of the foot you can see an opening, which was created when the blowpipe was cut off.
The holder for the wick is made of copper.
At the top is a clear crystal glass which ensures that the flame gives more reflection.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for antique glassware over 100 years old.
