Belgian Val Saint Lambert carafe “Ludovic, Taillé Oeuf”

Definition.

Beautiful mouth-blown carafe, made at the end of the 19th century – begin 20th century in Belgium.

The bottle is made of an alloy of glass and crystal, to obtain a more beautiful and purer glass.

In the 19th century, glass and crystal were not as pure as what we know today.

The carafe is mouth-blown, after which fine decorations are applied with great precision according to the sharpened technique.

These decorations are called olives.

At the bottom you can see the cut-off of the blowpipe.

The decanter has a nice convex shape, so you can use it for a liqueur or wine.

Very nice unique item for the collectors.

Please note that the crystal from the 19th century is not as pure as what we know today.

Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
