2 French 19th Century Carafes “Legras”
2 French 19th Century Carafes “Legras”
Definition.
Rare antique carafes, made in the 19th century in a French glassworks.
Legras was one of the most famous glassworks that made bottles and decanters for French liqueur brands.
This carafe is made of mouth-blown glass in a wooden mold, with a crystal content to obtain a brighter color.
In the 19th century, glass and crystal were not as pure as what we know today.
The stopper of the bottle is also mouth-blown.
The carafe is beautifully decorated with a checkerboard pattern.
At the bottom of the bottle you can still clearly see the cut-off of the blowpipe.
Very nice unique item for the collectors.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
