Blue 19th Century French jug.
Blue 19th Century French jug.
Definition.
This rare jug was made in the beginning of the 19th century, by one of the famous French glassworkers.
The jug is made of an alloy of glass and crystal, to obtain a more beautiful and purer glass.
In the 19th century, glass and crystal were not as pure as what we know today.
The jug is mouth-blown and has a very nice twist in the glassware.
This motif is also known as Bambous.
We encounter this motif in Legras's early glassware.
At the bottom you can see the cut-off of the blowpipe.
Very nice unique item for the collectors.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
