Belgian Val Saint Lambert carafe “Siebel”

Definition.

Beautiful mouth-blown crystal carafe, made at the begin of the 20th century in Belgium.

This rare carafe is mouth blown from clear crystal, after which a layer of blue crystal is applied over it. During the finish, part of the blue crystal is then cut away so that beautiful geometric figures appear. These, in turn, give a beautiful sparkle in the light.

This doubled crystal is typical of Val Saint Lambert, they perfected this process and often used it.

Val Saint Lambert uses high lead crystal. This means that at least 33% lead oxide (PbO) is used, more than the statutory 24%. This greatly benefits the quality: The crystal can be processed finer, the degree of brilliance is a lot greater and the crystal is clearer than ever.

This is an absolute masterpiece in terms of glassware and crystal.

The name of the caraf is “Siebel”

Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
