4 liqueur glasses “Helvétia” 19th century “Baccarat – Saint Louis”
Definition.
4 beautiful liqueur glasses, made at the first part of the 19th century in France.
The glasses are made of mouth-blown glass, with a crystal content to achieve a more beautiful shine.
The glasses have a beautiful balloon shape. The bottom of the glass is very thick.
The purpose of this thick bottom was to give a large glass, but in which less wine or liqueur could be poured.
Most of the time, the host took this glass. This way he could drink along with his guests without getting drunk quickly, as he had less alcoholic beverage.
At the bottom of the foot you can see the cut-off of the blowpipe.
These glasses belong to the Baccarat tableware series “Helvétia”
In the 19th century this was a wine glass, now we use it more as a port glass.
These are completely handmade, so they can differ in size and weight.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for handmade antique glassware.
