19th Century French Oil Lamp
19th Century French Oil Lamp
Definition.
Very nice large kerosene lamp, made in the 19th century in France by Legras.
This beautiful lamp is made of a combination of bronze, marble and crystal/glass.
The base is beautifully decorated with baroque elements.
On the pedestal is a trunk in yellow marble and then the glass ball is reassembled with a bronze part.
This glass ball is made of mouth-blown glass, with a crystal content. After blowing, a fine decoration of dots and flowers was applied with enamel.
Finally, the lamp is finished at the top with a crystal glass that gives the fire more light effect.
Very nice item as decoration or to use as mood lighting.
Given its age, a small trace of wear may be present, as well as glass threads, air bubbles and imperfections are completely normal for antique glassware over 100 years old.
